John Amore Obituary

AMORE, JOHN M. 74, of Algonquin Road, Rumford, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at home on Thursday May 22, 2008. He was the husband of Nancy J. (Shadrick) Amore to whom he was married for forty three years.

Born in South Berwick, Maine he was the son of the late Pasquale and Rita (Albin) Amore.

John was retired from Narragansett Electric where he had worked for 35 years. He was a Korean War Era Naval Veteran.

He was a member of the Brotherhood of Utility Workers Local # 310 and was a treasurer and board member of Wave Federal Credit Union.

He was a founding member of the East Providence Pirates Youth Hockey Organization and a former volunteer for the Rumford Little League.

He was an avid New York Yankee fan, a lifelong Democrat and loved Jazz music.

John was a man of impeccable style and grace whose greatest joy was his grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he leaves one daughter, Jennifer N. Voll and her husband Christopher of Rumford; one son, Gregg M. Amore and his wife Lee of East Providence, four grandchildren, Grace and John Voll and Tess and Megan Amore and eleven nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Dolores Reynolds.

His Funeral will be held Saturday at 8:45AM from the PERRY/MCSTAY FUNERAL HOME 2555 Pawtucket Avenue East Providence with A Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret Church Pawtucket Ave. Rumford at 10AM. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours TODAY FRIDAY 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's memory to the Citizen's Scholarship Foundation of East Providence P.O. Box 154438 East Providence, RI 02915 would be deeply appreciated.

To the family and friends of Mr. Amore, I just wanted to express to you my deepest sympathy for your loss. Mr. Amore was a wonderful, kind man who always had a smile on his face. He frequented the restaurant I bartend in (Siena) and I always looked forward to seeing him. Please know that he will forever be in my memory.
