John Fogarty Obituary

FOGARTY, JOHN C. 84, was a devoted husband and father. He was married to Margaret (McManus) Fogarty for 62 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late John A. Fogarty and the late Dorothy (Greer) Cahill. John graduated from LaSalle Academy and the United States Military Academy at West Point. Captain Fogarty proudly served during the Korean Conflict as an intelligence officer. John was involved in the family business, International Chromium Plating Co., Inc. in Providence and went on to own Plasticast, Inc. in Providence. He retired in 1990. John was active in many sports including handball, squash, racquetball and golf. He was a past president of the Little Rhody Beagle Club and an active member of the Plainville Beagle Club. Following his retirement, he was active as a volunteer with children and adults with special needs. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Michael J. Fogarty of Falmouth, MA, Mary C. Flanagan of Cumberland, David A. Fogarty of Cumberland, Daniel E. Fogarty of Wakefield, John P. Fogarty of Cumberland, and Margaret A. Bonner of Cumberland; twelve grandchildren; one great grandson; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Dorothy Glasgow, Mary Ferland, Francis Fogarty, Robert Fogarty, Rev. William Fogarty, and Thomas Fogarty. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 24 at 11 A.M. at Historic St. Joseph's Church, 1303 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial, with military honors, will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at BELLOWS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Road, Lincoln TUESDAY 4-7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Fogarty's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, RI Chapter, 245 Waterman Street, Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906 would be appreciated.
