Jack passed away peacefully on March 8, 2021 at the age of 87 in East Providence, RI. Jack was born in Pawtucket, RI to the late Dolores D. (Cotnoir) Quinn and the former mayor of that city ('34-'37), John F. Quinn. Jack attended Providence Country Day School, graduated from Admiral Billard Academy in New London, CT, Brown University in 1959, and attended three semesters of MFA level novel and screenplay workshops. He served in the United States Marine Corps, worked for twenty years in executive capacities in Boston and Providence ad agencies before founding his own direct marketing firm in 1980.
Jack was an avid distance sailor. He cruised Maine, Lake MI, La Cote d'Azure, and during his retirement, the U.S. and Canadian east coasts from the Florida Keys, Bahamas, Nova Scotia, Ste. Pierre, Cape Breton, Les Iles de la Madeline, Newfoundland to Labrador. A prolific writer since his teens, Jack published four eBook novels on Amazon/Kindle and received an option for a screenplay from an independent Hollywood producer.
Jack was predeceased by his son, Teague, his brothers, Thomas of Troy, MI and Richard (Jean) of Indianapolis, and is survived by his sisters, Dolores Splaine of Bristol, RI, and Patricia (Richard) Stack of Ballston Lake, NY, in addition to numerous nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.
Jack & Teague's ashes will be spread on Narragansett Bay in a private ceremony. A memorial of Jack's life will be celebrated at the next Quinn Reunion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Victoria Sousa Foundation, 232 Hope Street, Bristol, RI 02809.
