Joseph Baffoni Obituary
90, of Narragansett passed away on March 1, surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Frank and Anita (Fanella) Baffoni and beloved husband of Clare E. (Beecher) Baffoni and the late Mary (Lucca) Baffoni. Joe was a Navy Veteran of WWII serving in the Pacific Theater. He graduated from Providence College and then went on to Boston College to earn his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree. He was a practicing attorney until 1991, when he was appointed by the Governor to be an Adjudicatory Hearing Officer for the Department of Environmental Management. He was a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association and American Bar Association. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus and The American Legion. Joe was an avid golfer and a long-time member of Exeter Country Club. He also loved playing High Low Jack and watching the Providence College Friars and the New England Patriots. Joe was extraordinarily kind, loving, incredibly quick witted and the "ultimate gentleman". He is survived by his children, Joseph Jr. of Colorado, Marie (James) Maguire of Maine, Robert (Christine) of North Carolina, and David (Sharon) Baffoni of North Carolina. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Laurie (Ken) Leonard of Narragansett, David (Naoko) Chiaverini of New York, and Leanne (Steve) Lasher of East Greenwich. He was the loving Papa of 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren! He is also survived by his sister Jennie Gleason of North Carolina. He was predeceased by his sisters Mary Chiulli and Nancy Fazio. His funeral will be held on Friday at 10 am from the Nardolillo Funeral Home SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Rd., Narragansett followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Thomas More Church, Narragansett. Burial with military honors will take place in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. VISITING HOURS: Friday morning 9-10 am. I met Joe in 1973 when I took a bartending job at Exeter Country Club. Joe was still golfing there when I retired in 2013. Joe was a true gentleman, to say the least. I had the privilege of golfing with Joe and his friends-Ray Turco, Stan Ervanian, and Joe Costa on several occasions. Joe was my idea of "THE MAN." Please accept my sincere condolences upon Joe's passing. May he rest in peace.

I wish to express my condolences to the family of Joe Baffoni. I worked with Joe for many years when he was a Hearing Officer at the Department of Environmental Management. He was always a pleasure to be with and was a true gentleman. He always had time for people and was willing to pass on his sage advice.
