Lucy Martiesian Obituary

MARTIESIAN, LUCY, formerly of Farnum Street, Pawtucket, passed away quietly at the Mansion Nursing Home in Central Falls on Friday morning March 17, 2006. She was 93 years old.

She was the daughter of the late Martin and Haiganosh (Yessian) Martiesian and the sister of the late Paul and Irene Martiesian.

She is survived by her brother, Lazarus Martiesian and his wife Olympia of Seekonk, MA and her niece Paula Martiesian of Providence.

A past president of the Rhode Island Music Teachers Association (1982-84), Lucy taught both piano and voice for over fifty years. When she could no longer drive because of failing eyesight, Lucy continued to teach, arriving at her students' homes by RIPTA bus. She attended both the Julliard School of Music and Boston University, and was the organist and choir master for several neighborhood churches. Lucy was an avid concert goer and world traveler. Over the course of her lifetime she visited several countries, including Hong Kong, Cuba, Spain, Brazil, Chile, Turkey, Russia and Armenia.

Her funeral and visitation will be held Monday, March 20 at 9 a.m. from the WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket followed by services at 10 a.m. in St. Sahag & St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church, 70 Jefferson St., Providence. Burial will follow in the family lot at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Armistice Blvd., Pawtucket. Please omit flowers, gifts may be made to the Church.
