Luigi Battista Obituary

BATTISTA, LUIGI V.
90, a lifelong resident of Greenville and Johnston, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Antonette (Mignanelli) Battista for 67 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Raffaele and Salvatora (Gelardi) Battista.
Luigi was the loving father of Lu-Ann Battista (Alan Atwood), Loreen Parente (James), & Ralph Battista (Kerri); devoted grandfather of Christofer Atwood, Andrew Parente, Alicia Parente, Alexandra Atwood, Amanda Battista, Nicholas Luigi Battista & Matthew Battista. He was the caring brother of the late Letizia Accardo. Luigi is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was the proud founder and owner of Luigi's Restaurant & Gourmet Express, an Italian family eatery in Johnston since 1971. He devoted his life to his family, his restaurant as well as his employees and loyal patrons. Luigi's is still owned and operated today by his children and extended family. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
His funeral will be held Monday, January 7, 2019 at 10 AM from the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave., (Rt. 44), Greenville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Philip Church, Putnam Pike. Burial with military honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours, Sunday from 3-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 will be appreciated. Information and condolences, TuckerQuinnFuneralHome.com
