Luigi DelBove Obituary

DelBOVE, LUIGI, 39 passed away Saturday February 24, 2007 at Kent Hospital Warwick. He was born in Providence the beloved son of Vinicio and the late Irma (Ciccone) DelBove.

Louie worked at Foxwoods Resort and Casino for 10 years as a Floor Supervisor for the Table Games Department, and most recently started a second career as a Primerica Insurance Broker. He was a Real Estate Agent for Century 21 and a Bartender at St. Mary's Feast Society.

Louie was a graduate of Cranston High School West. He also attended CCRI and URI. In high school he was on the Varsity Football Team. He played hockey for CLCF for many years. One of his proudest achievements was when he was an amateur wrestler, well known to everyone as Orca the Killer Whale. Louie was a member of the St. Mary's Feast Society.

He is survived by his sisters Lina and her husband Franco Agresti, Anna and her husband Roland Barone, Diana and her husband Richard Gemma all of Cranston. He also was the brother in law of the late Thomas Beaudoin. He was the loving Uncle of Jessica, Tommy, Joey, Marisa, Alyssa, Jaclyn, Joseph and Eric. Louie also leaves behind many Aunts, Uncles and cousins from RI, Toronto and Italy. He was the Grandson of the late Luigi DelBove (his name sake), Pasqualina (Giorgio) DelBove, Domenico and A'DelBove, Domenico and Alessandra (Capotosto) Ciccone all of Itri, Italy. Better known to his close friends and colleagues as 'Luigi', he was full of life and would light up the room when he walked in with his great big smile. He had a heart of gold and was always ready and willing to help anyone. We will never forget his laugh. He loved his family and friends and was so proud of his family's heritage. It was evident when the entire family went to Itri, Italy in 2005 for his niece's wedding. He will be sadly missed by all. We love you Lou!

His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9 am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Mary's Church, Cranston St., Cranston. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Wednesday 5-9:30 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

There seems to be a huge emptiness at Foxwoods that only Lou could fill. I find a little peace in knowing that when my time comes he'll be waiting with open arms and that big grin, a drink in one hand and a plate of sausage and peppers in the other. And he'll give me a big "How You Doin'?" and then I'll hear his laugh again. For now, I'm content knowing the big man is watching over all of us...But it doesn't take away the sting from all of us missing him.

I met Louie at Chelos and shared trivia answers, both right and wrong (his usually right-mine often wrong). He always spoke so lovingly of his family, sharing stories about his beloved nieces and nephews. With always a smile on his face, he would brighten the room upon entering and leave me smiling. He will be missed. My sincerest and deepest condolences to your family. I will keep you and Louie in my prayers.

I remember Louie growing up. He was a great kid. Even though I moved out of state I would often run into him at Stop & Shop when I came home to visit. He was always friendly and cordial asking about the family and my brother Mike. There are those you meet in life whom you'd rather forget and those that never leave your heart. You Louie are the latter. God bless!

To Louie’s family, my deepest condolences.

Although I have not seen Louie in years, I will never forget the times we shared growing up together. We use to make up games that we would play all day long. I remember the wiffle ball games we played in my backyard. The only thing that made us stop playing was when we ran out of wiffle balls and money to buy new ones. I will never forget the time we had to run from my neighbor Tony who chased us out of his garden with a broom stick. All we wanted was our ball back. One of our favorite games was MLV (Michael, Louie and Vinny) which was a street hockey game we played with our friend Vinny. We had a lot of fun back then.

Louie you were not the best athlete I ever hung out with nor were you very good at picking teams to cheer for (Red Sox – especially back then) but you were always a great friend. Thanks for the memories!

He was one of my few Cranston homeboys at Foxwoods and I'll truly miss him. It is said that the quiet dignity with which we bear our burdens is the sign of a noble spirit.

If that is true, then the way in which Luigi uplifted the room with a smile, did nothing less than redefine nobility.

I knew him for his amicable warmth. I will remember his spirit in all the sincerest of smiles I see henceforth.

It was my honor to have been Lou's close friend for the past seven years. He listened well, he cared much, he shared what he had and he taught what he knew.

Lou was good at really enjoying life, at squeezing the most out of it. His love of family, his love of sports, his amazing memory for fun tidbits of information...and many other things he cared about,
were the stuff that drew people to him. and just look at how many
people were drawn!

Lou, i'll miss you a lot!

deepest sympathy.

It's funny how people's lives are so intertwined; especially in Knightsville:
Luigi lived next door to my Nonna and we'd all play in eachother's yards...and walk to Saccoccia's drug store for candy. Then Diana and I went to school together.

Years later, I married and Luigi waited on me weekly at the Deli, with that famously contagious smile. Next, I waitressed at Stuffie's where we enjoyed Luigi and his buddies as our friendly regulars.

And then there's St. Mary's Feast Society where it all started--
with our parents settling in Knightsville to raise their families and relinquishing to our generation; the torch. Luigi...your flame will always burn brightly...until we meet again.

Luigi without a doubt was a very gentle sincere and kind person whom always had a flare for making everyone around him laugh. Luigi and I had this little thing that when I saw him I had to address him in a wrestler announcers way " and here he comes " ORCA ". He will be sadly missed by all whom worked with him and I extend my personal condolences to his family. My prayers and thoughts are with you all
