Malcolm Rochford

ROCHFORD, MALCOLM "ROCKY" 85, of Lakeside Street Riverside died Tuesday. He was the husband of Carolyn (Hawkins) Rochford. Born in Providence he was a son of the late Arthur and Hazel (Vallett) Rochford. Rocky was a Claims Manager for the Providence Washington and American Mutual Insurance Company until retiring. He was a member of Loyalty Chapter Order of Demolay where he received the Legion of Honor award and was a member of Loyalty Chapter Chevaliers. He was a member of St. Andrews Lodge 39 AF&AM and received his 50 Grand Lodge Service medal in 2003. He belonged to the RI Fish & Game Protective Association, Trout Unlimited and was a life long member of Briggs Beach, Little Compton. He coached the former Royal Fuels Little League team for 14 years, was a member of the East Providence Housing Authority from 1985-1989. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and he filmed the last at bat of Ted Williams which was used by the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown NY. He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He leaves a son, Peter A. Rochford (Carey) of Warren, two daughters Deborah A. Rochford of Riverside, Jill (William) A. Wood of Riverside, 4 grandchildren, one great grandchild and one great grandchild "on the way". The funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 10 AM in the Riverside Congregational Church, 15 Oak Avenue, Riverside. Burial with Military Honors will be in Springvale Cemetery in Rumford. Calling hours are Monday 4 to 7 PM in the Smith-Mason Funeral Home, 398 Willett Avenue, Riverside.
