Mary Drapeau Obituary

DRAPEAU, MARY E. (GRAY) R.N. 72, of No. Smithfield, died Thursday, July 31, 2014 in the Philip Hulitar Residence, Providence. She was the wife of Col. Robert L. Drapeau, U.S. Army, retired, whom she married December 11, 1965. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Long) Gray. Mary was a graduate of St. Clare High School and St. Joseph's School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse for the former Woonsocket Hospital and Mt. St. Rita Healthcare Center. Mary later worked for the Woonsocket School System as a teacher's aide. After tracing her heritage, she obtained dual citizenship with Ireland. Mary was a devoted grandmother, avid beach goer, and loved South County. Besides her husband, she leaves their son, Robert G. Drapeau of No. Smithfield; her grandson, Jack Drapeau of Norwood, MA; and her sister, Joanne Cook of Maine. She was predeceased by two brothers, William and Joseph Gray. Her funeral will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 9 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 190 No. Main St., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Blackstone, MA. Calling hours are Monday from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boston College Center for Irish Programs, Connolly House, 300 Hammond Street, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467. www.holtfuneralhome.com
