I remember with fondness Melba, I worked with her at Kaplan Jewelers in Cranston, RI.
I loved her and all of the Kaplan family. I left to work on Cape Cod in 1979 just before Jerry & and his wife were killed in their unfortunate airplane accident.
I shall always remember the warmth and love of the entire Kaplan family.

Condolences to the Kaplan family. Like so my Cranstonians, my mother shopped at Kaplan's and in the Kaplan tradition, was always treated like an old friend. In their very old age, my late mother, Mary, and Melba became very close friends at Tamarisk. Toward the end of my mother's life, Melba would make the long trek down the corridor to visit her friend and to sit in a special chair my mother set aside for her. Very fitting for a very special lady.

She was such a special lady to all of us! My memories from earliest days spent with my own grandparents who cherished hers & James' friendship at the store, Crestwood and the Kapock Tree Inn in Fla. all the way forward to times spent with her here in Cranston when my own children would raid her house for chocolates and hopefully make her smile for a few brief minutes. All equally warm memories of her and her wonderful family. Bless her long, spirited life. Thinking of you all.
