PAUL McKEOWN Obituary

McKEOWN, PAUL F., 89, of Silver Spring, MD, formerly of Cranston, died peacefully in his sleep on January 21, 2010.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen (Seery) McKeown; three daughters, Paula McKeown-Longo of Niskayuna, NY, Susan Reutershan of Potomac, MD, and Nancy Aboyan of Woodbury, MN; daughter-in-law Deborah McKeown of Ridgefield, CT; niece Sheila Bentley McKenna of Lincoln and 8 grandchildren. Son, Jeffrey P. McKeown, predeceased him in 2001.

A resident of Cranston until 1986, he is a graduate of LaSalle Academy, Providence College, and Boston College Law School. He was an attorney with the Veterans Administration Rating Board in Providence for many years until his retirement.

Mr. McKeown was a veteran of World War II. He was assigned to the 746th Bomb Squadron, 456th Bomb Group, 15th Air Force as a pilot of a B-24 Liberator bomber. On May 10, 1944, while flying out of Italy on his twenty-first combat mission, his plane was shot down. He was a German prisoner of war until liberation by the Americans on April 29, 1945.

Interment with full Military honors on February 22, 2010, at 9:00 a.m. at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
