Peter Kachanis

KACHANIS, PETER R., JR. passed away at home, Friday, February 26, 2016. A Greenville resident since 1968, he was the beloved husband of Natalie A. (Vaughn) Kachanis for 56 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Peter R., Sr. and Marion (Dowgiala) Kachanis. Peter was the loving father of Lynda Kachanis (Paul), Carolyn Towner (Walter), and David Kachanis; devoted grandfather of Ashley, Corey, Walter, and Justin; brother of Robert Kachanis, Christine Smith, and John Kachanis. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Peter loved the outdoors, he was an avid gardener, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved the ocean, especially Jamestown. Peter was very handy and built his own home. A proud American, he valued his time served in the Army Reserves, retiring as captain. Peter was a longstanding member of the NRA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 11 AM in St. Philip Church, Putnam Ave., Greenville. Burial will be private. Visitation, Wednesday, 5-8 PM in the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave. (Rt.44) Greenville.
