Robert Kachanis Obituary
Born in Providence in 1938, he was the son of the late Peter and Marion (Dowgiala) Kachanis. Bob served his country with dignity and honor in the United States Army, for which he was stationed in Germany and was involved in Berlin Brigade.
Mr. Kachanis had a bachelor's degree in business administration from Rogers Williams University. He worked for the City of Pawtucket for 17 years as the superintendent of the Pawtucket Municipal Incinerator, which he opened in June 1965 and closed in August 1982. Bob enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was an incredibly talented woodworker who could duplicate anything he saw. He was a parishioner and choir member of Our Lady of Grace Church in Beverly Hills for the past 25 years, donating his time by cantoring and crafting an altar and other pieces. In recent years, he was also a parishioner and choir member at St. Joseph's Church in Woonsocket.
Besides his loving wife of 57 years, he is survived by a son Robert Edward Kachanis Jr. of North Smithfield; a daughter, Catherine Boucher of Cumberland; a brother, John Kachanis of North Scituate; a sister, Christine Smith of Coventry; five grandchildren, Alex Boucher of North Smithfield, Ben Boucher of Cumberland, Molly and Jordyn Kachanis, both of North Smithfield, and Shannon Anderson of Pawtucket; and two great-grandchildren Nicoli and Aiden Anderson, both of Pawtucket. He was the brother of the late Peter Kachanis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Aug. 5, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 1200 Mendon Road, Woonsocket, RI 02895. Burial will be private. Calling hours will respectfully be omitted.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Jones-Walton-Sheridan Funeral Home. Please visitwww.jwsfh.com for additional information. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in his memory to St. Joseph Church Choir.

We are so very sorry for your loss. Bob was a wonderful person . We have missed him from Our Lady Of Grace. He loved to sing . He had a great smile and good sense of humor. We remember celebrating your anniversary , and your presence at our Oktoberfest party. The rocking chair he refinished for us is a wonderful memory of him.
