Phillip Fortunati Obituary

FORTUNATI, PHILLIP, 91, of Cooper St., passed away on Saturday. He was the husband of the late Anna (Bonanni) Fortunati. Born January 31, 1915, ninety-two years ago today, he was the son of the late Fabio and Annunziata (DeSantis) Fortunati.

Mr. Fortunati and his brother Joseph, were co owners of the Shoe Horn in Marieville, one of North Providence's oldest established business, since 1950. Previous to this Mr. Fortunati operated a shoe repair shop in the same location, a business he had inherited from his father.

Mr. Fortunati was an accordian player for over forty years with the Melody Ramblers, a four-piece band that had played on WJAR radio. He was an Army veteran of WWII.

He leaves two sons, Philip F. and James R. Fortunati; two grandchildren, Joelle Contillo and Jonathan Fortunati; a great-granddaughter, Brianna Erbe; two sisters, Mary Ranallo and Rose Boisse; three brothers, Joseph, Albert, and Robert Fortunati; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Catherine Christopher.

Visitation Thursday MORNING 8-9:15 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 AM in the Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 1081 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence.
