Raymond Macdonald Obituary

MacDONALD, RAYMOND M. 92, an entrepreneur and legislator, died Monday, November 9, 2015 surrounded by the loving family he treasured. He was the beloved husband for 71 years of Catherine A. (Baines) MacDonald. A real estate broker and builder he was the owner of Ramac Associates, which he ran until 2000. He continued to work until age 91, selling bicycles and collectibles in the Conimicut section of Warwick. He served in the House of Representatives, for Dist. 31 in Warwick for 4 terms until 1978. A WWII Navy veteran, he served with the Seabees in the Pacific Theater. He always remained active in politics and served with the Warwick Republican Party and was very proud that as a republican he had the support of the AFLCIO and was an original member of the Warwick Sewer Authority Board. He was a member of the Wm. Shields American Legion Post #43 and had been active with the Boy Scouts. Besides his wife, he leaves 2 sons, Robert F. MacDonald and wife, Sandra and Kenneth J. MacDonald and wife, Susan. He also leaves 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Larry, Jackie, Bobby, Elwood MacDonald and Ellen Hart. His funeral service will be held Friday, November 13, at 10 am in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave. Burial with military honors in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Thursday 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions to C.H.A.N.C.E. Scholarship Foundation, c/o St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 99 Pierce Street, East Greenwich, RI 02818, will be appreciated. Information and condolences at TheQuinnFuneralHome.com
