It is always hard to lose a great man-and Dick was that in every sense of the word. Great husband, great father, great grandfather, great friend. His legacy lives on in his family, of which he was so proud and had every reason to be.

One week has passed since we laid my dad to rest. A day does not go by that I am not overcome with grief. The wake and funeral showed the overwhelming love and respect people had for you dad. I was always filled with pride when we worked together at Hudson Asphalt and our paths would cross during the day. I wrote these words to you 15yrs ago when you officially retired for the second time.and they mean more today

You were the one who I admired, If you remember a trucker's life I did desire, You taught me that hard work was the norm, I will try to teach this to my own born, Father you've been there for all to see, Camping, Sports, College and me, I was your Smokey when times were good, You were my DAD to all the neighborhood.

I will always be proud that I am your son and you are my DAD

The Cronin family and mine have been friends for years. It was a great surprise to find I was living across the street from Dick and Claire when I moved to Harvey Ave. I had the privilege of reconnecting with Patrick and Joan recently and am so sorry to know of this loss. Dick was truly a very special man and I am so sorry for the grief this brings to his family. I know the wonderful memories will get them through this....Linda Briden Spies
