Richard Storti Obituary

STORTI, RICHARD THOMAS
86 years of age, of South Kingstown, formerly of East Greenwich, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his adoring family and beloved wife, Arlene, on the 11th of April in 2018. Richard was the son of Querino and Helena Storti of Providence. He is survived by his sister, Loretta Maguire, and predeceased by his siblings Lorraine Graziano, and Helena, Frank, Frances, Donald, and Raymond Storti. He was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. Then, he proudly served as an Army Sergeant in the Korean War and returned home to marry his one and only love, Arlene (Del Ricco) on the 30th of May in 1956.
Richard is survived by four children, Patricia (Storti) Tarro and her husband Anthony Tarro of North Kingstown, Paul Storti and his wife Charlene (Mahoney) Storti of Exeter, Susan (Storti) Bornstein and her husband Wayne Bornstein of Cranston, and Richard Storti and his wife Kia (Matoes) Storti of Saunderstown. "Papa" adored his 12 twelve grandchildren; Nicholas, Kirstyn, and her husband John Zaborski, David, Olivia, Matthew, Isabella, Christopher, Anya, Sophia, Evan, Milan, and Jonah. He was equally enamored with his great grandchildren, Ethan, Jacob, Alahna, Briella, and Grayson.
His humble beginnings in a small family restaurant eventually culminated into the co-ownership of the Quonset O'Club in North Kingstown, RI. He proudly and successfully operated the club for 23 years with his brother Raymond and sister Frances.
During his 27 years of retirement, he could faithfully be found supporting his grandchildren in every athletic, academic, and artistic endeavor. Nothing gave him more pleasure with the exception of an "occasional ride" to the casino. He was a man that lived a wonderful and full life, always woke up with a smile and a true excitement about what the day would bring. He was a loyal friend, a loving husband, an inspiration as a father and grandfather, and the patriarch of his family. His clever wit and zealous approach to life made him simply irresistible. Within his entire family, he instilled the importance of self-respect, a hard work ethic, and the necessity to be fair and honest. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 10:00 am in St. Thomas More Church, 53 Rockland St., Narragansett. Burial with military honors will follow in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. VISITING HOURS will be held in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory- SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Rd. (Rt. 1A) Narragansett on Sunday, April 15th from 2:00 – 6:00 pm.

You always could brighten up a room with one of your in jest jokes or straightforward one liners. You made everyone feel just as equally important as the next and you could always turn a bad day into a good one with just one of your heartfelt smiles. Thank you for being you and making me feel like I was apart of your family. It was an honor to have known you and been a part of your life...The grief we feel is just the price we have to pay for your love.
Love you Pop,
John

To My true friend and #1 supporter,
Words cant justify the relationship we had. You were always the fire in my belly and a shoulder to lean on. You showed my dad how to be a loving family man, and you truly are the reason for everything I have. It's an honor to know that I pleased you, and I will forever have your comforting voice in my head. It hurts to know I'll never see you walk thru the front doors at Quonset again, but dad and I will always be waiting in your spot at the front desk, with a smile on our face and your cup of coffee in our hand. Until we meet again,
Your grandson
