Roland Savoie Obituary

SAVOIE, ROLAND F., 87, recently of Simmonsville Avenue, Johnston, died Monday at the Philip Hulitar Center, Providence. Born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Philias J. and Isala (Meunier) Savoie, he had been a long time Pawtucket resident. He was the husband of the late Claire J. (St. Goddard) Savoie.

Mr. Savoie was a tool and die maker for over 40 years working for several firms including Watervliet Arsenal, General Cable and American Insulated Wire. He loved God and his family, was self educated and an avid reader. Above all, he was a man of curiosity and wisdom.

He is survived by 7 daughters: Carol Bolton of Queensbury, NY, Jean Heslin and Joan Leonard both of Chester, VA, Phyllis Sale of Lincoln, Marian Henry of Cincinatti, OH, Mary-Teresa Shaunessy of Bellingham, MA and Ann Marie Dau of Roswell, GA. 4 sons: Frank Savoie of Steubenville, OH, Thomas Savoie of Littleton, CO, David Savoie of Oakridge, TN and Paul Savoie of Acworth, GA, a sister, Rita Savoie of Johnston, 28 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He was brother of the late Florence and Jeannette Savoie and Bro. Donald, SC.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 10:00am from the Stapleton-Barry-Holdredge Funeral Home, 684 Park Avenue, Cranston with a Mass of Christian Burial in St Jude Church, Front St., Lincoln at 11:30. The family requests donations in his memory, as an alternative to flowers, be made to Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, 50 Maude St., Prov., 02908. His life will be celebrated with calling hours Friday 4 to 7pm. Visit cranstonfunerals.com for directions.

My Pepere is a very special man. I am so glad I was able to spend this last year with him. I am so glad he was able to attend my wedding. I love him very much and will never forget him.
