SAMUEL MARSOCCI Obituary

MARSOCCI, SAMUEL F., 73, a retired chemist, passed away at home on Monday, December 21, 2009. He was the beloved husband of Carole (Vanasse) Marsocci for 47 years. Born in Warwick, he was the son of the late Samuele and Gelsomina (Farinaro) Marsocci.

Sam, a resident of Coventry for over 42 years, had been employed at the former Hoechst-Celanese in Coventry for 30 years before retiring in 1995. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree, Master of Science Degree, and Ph.D in Chemistry from the University of Rhode Island. Sam enjoyed playing tennis and riding his Harley- Davidson motorcycle.

He was the cherished father of Jason S. Marsocci and his wife Leeanne of Coventry, and Nicole A. Bouverie and her husband Shane of Australia.

He was the devoted grandfather of JayJay Marsocci. He was the brother of Connie Beron of Coventry, and the late Olindo, Lucio, Hugo, Joseph Marsocci, Olga Parente, and Angie Furia. Samuel was the loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

A 'Celebration of his life' will be Tuesday at 10 am in the R.A. IANNOTTI Funeral Home, 415 Washington St., (Rte.117), Coventry. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich to follow. Visiting hours Monday 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to VNA of Care New England Hospice, 51 Health Ln., Warwick, RI 02886 will be appreciated. www.iannottifh.com

Carole, Sam was one of my mentors. He , along with Dick david, convinced me to attend URI and get my BS in Chemistry. For this, I will be forever grateful. Sam was one of the most respected "old timers" at Hoechst and I will miss him dearly. My condolences to you and the family, Jim and Theresa Thompson.

Carole, Jay, and Nicole I wish my sincere condolences.

I worked for Sammy at Hoechst in the Pigment Department, and he was great to work for. He was also a one of the great arm wrestler ever. We are also Natick born and knew him and his entire family growing up.

He touched a lot of lives, in a positive way. Last time I was Sam was he was going into Kent Hospital we talked a little and about his Z and his Harley.

He will be sadly missed by many

My closest friend in high school and a close and dear friend for life. He and Carol met at my fathers home when we were in high school. Carol was my sisters close friend. Sam and his entire family were a positive influence on me and I loved them dearly. He is sadly missed.
