Sandy Arnone Obituary

ARNONE, SANDY VITA 98, died peacefully on September 1st at the Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center. She was born in Westerly, Rhode Island on April 22, 1915 and was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Theresa (Conte) Vita. She was married to the late Francis E. Arnone and was the mother of the late Francis E. Arnone Jr. She is survived by her daughter Kathleen Toolan and her husband Andrew, her daughter Sandy L. Arnone, her daughter-in-law Ann Leavitt, twelve grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Sandy was predeceased by her four sisters, Bombina Ventry, Rose Trombino, Mary Toscano, Theresa Giorno, and her brother Natale Vita. Mrs. Arnone was the District Director of the Rhode Island Narragansett Council of Camp Fire Girls for twenty years. She later became the Senior Coordinator at the Smith Hill Community Center for nine years. She served as an officer on the Bishop's Lay Committee for twenty years and was one of five women to receive the St. Ann Medal, bestowed by Bishop McVinney for outstanding promotion of the Marian Award for Girl Scouts and Camp Fire Girls. Always community minded, Mrs. Arnone served on the Board of Directors of the Friendly Visitors. She was a member of Cranston Senior Services since 1989, where she served on the RSVP Board, the Senior Adult Day Care Board, and was a volunteer for the Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) for sixteen years. She belonged to the Book Club and the Garden Club. She also volunteered at the Rhode Island Blood Bank for seventeen years and did volunteer work for St. Matthew Church in Cranston. She had recently received the "State Volunteer of the Year" award. She had a lifelong devotion to her family, her church, and her community, and will be sorely missed. Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 8:45am from the Butterfield Chapel, 500 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Matthew Church (corner of Park and Elmwood Avenues) at 10:00am. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00-7:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to St. Matthew Church, 15 Frances Avenue Cranston, RI 02910 or Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904. She remembered every name and face
She keep attract of family
With love and grace she was a lady whose love will be remembered
As she goes forth her love and light still guides as she embraces faces she has missed
We here shall be missing seeing her loving face at family get together a birthdays weddings births she may not be here in sight but you can still feel her loving embrace and how she had time in this place to rember your names and faces was by love she had brought us all to this place
Remeber her life and grace and loving embrace and she is there with you as you live life
