My name is Amanda Ray-Jackson. I am married to Sgt Brady Jackson. I consider all service members a step above the rest of us.. and the supportive family of such honorable men the same. Brady is very fond of Shane. As well as Emmard, Legg and others I've come to know through him; survivors and KIA heroes alike. We named our youngest son after Shane. His name is Shane Alexander Jackson. He is, and always will be, told of and proud of having a hero for a father and the name of a hero. I dont know much else to say. Just... thank you.

My wife and I met you today at the first running of the GWOT road race. The story of your son Shane has touched our hearts deeply. My son Matt won this race today and we had the chance to discuss the sacrifice Shane made for our freedom to allow events like this to take place in this great country of ours. We will support you in your efforts to build the memorial and watch the newspapers and news for updates.

To the Duffy Family:
Though it's been a year since Shane's passing, his sacrifice is still fresh in the minds of other military families here in Mass. We honor him and want you to know he will not be forgotten. Those of us with friends and relatives in the service -- especially the families of the 772 MP Co. of Taunton (still in Iraq), and the 747 MP Co. of Ware MA now heading to Iraq -- we share your pride in your son. We cannot begin to know your sorrows; still, our hearts melt away in sympathy for your loss. Please accept our prayers: May God sustain you.

Shane,
We honor you and everything you did for this country everyday, in many different ways. Your sister is an amazing person, and she's watched over every day. I know you surround us with your presence, and I would do anything for her, and I keep an eye on her like I know you'd want me to. I never got to meet you, but I feel like knowing Shanon has helped me to know you. She's closer to me than almost anyone else, and she's like a sister. You're never forgotten, please continue to watch over us. You're truly a hero, now angel. I know you're looking down smiling, and you'd want nothing more than Shanon to keep her head held high, and she will. You'll never be forgotten, you're loved and missed dearly Shane. Thank you for everything you've done for us to be where we are today.

I will never forget the day I got one of the worst phone calls of my life to hear that u were now in heavan. You are such a blessing to this world u have so much life & heart in you that we all admired. You were a true souljah at heart. From our younger days you were already so militant and had so much pride . Truthfully we should have seen this comming because you are too blessed for this earth, no one could tell you any different than what you thought was right, You are a real hero and an example to all of us how we should live . Thank you for comming to visit me in my dream it meant so much to me. I pray that now you are resting in the Most High's Kingdom reaping the benifits of the hard work you did here on earth. You are the best Shane Duffy Please watch over all of us til we meet again.

To Shanes parents, brother, and sisters,
I try to put myself in the position of you all and I just cant imagine the feelings that must be felt. When I think of some words to say to try and comfort you all, it just doesn't seem like they capture the true Feelings , so what I can say is.. Every morning you wake up I hope you feel Shane there with his bright energy to greet your day. Everytime you Laugh , Shane is there Laughing with you. Everytime you go to work, Shane is there Blessing you with motivation and love. Everytime you drink a beer, He's there drinkin one with you. Everytime you cry, shane is there to wipe your tears and heal the pain. And everytime you go to sleep, he is there to Give u a hug and kiss goodnight, he is there to ease your mind, relax your body and Give you strength for another day.

To Shane's Wife and child, I am so sorry that you both have to go through such a difficult time. Thank you for bringing a peice of Shane into this world. I know Shane is the best father and he will still be the best father from the other side. All of his family and friends are here so his daughter can know her dad through all of us. Out of my love and respect for Shane I will help this family in any way I can.
Lets celebrate his Life

I'm not the type for fancy words, just real. I rode with Duff our first trip, lived next door to him after, and wished he hadn't switched from my platoon to another for the second trip. I'll never forget that day, the last time I saw him, or the other two guys. I'll always keep a picture of all three of them in my house somewhere as a reminder. I have a lot of great memories of Duff and I still think about him often. In my lifetime, already, I thought I had heard every possible nickname someone could come up with for me. Duffy proved me wrong and I can still hear in my head how he would call me "Bootton." He was always good for a laugh. A good friend.

In Memory of Shane ~ (Debra Estep)

July 29, 2008

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Shane, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Prayer for Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen

July 18, 2008

My son Thomas Patrick Daly served with Shane Duffy in Iraq. He was on RnR here in the states when Shane was killed. I wasn't sure if I should tell him guys from his unit, were hurt however, I did. It was a bit devastating to him. He called Shane his "Irish drinking buddy". He said Shane was a "good troop" and was sure of his duty. He called me from Iraq recently and pointed me to "youTube" web site that has some videos of the funeral. It is well fitting a great warrior. I will pray for any healing that can come for a loss such as this for all of you. May God Bless your family, our Military and the United States of America. Patrick Thomas Daly

I am so sorry for your tragedy. The missions that our men and women are performing now are more important than any that have come before and will shape the way our world will be for generations to come. There is no doubt that things should have been handled differently by so many. The only solace I can offer is what has sustained me through my hard times (like one day years ago in Beirut) a priest told me when I was young. God only gives us what we can handle and if the trial goes beyond what we can handle he brings things and people into our lives to take up the rest. If we can help in anyway please feel free to contact me at anytime.

To the family and parents of Shane I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. When Shane first came into the Army, he came into my Team. I was his first Teamleader up to his first deployment to Iraq where I served with him. I say this not at all due to the circumstances, this is truth, he was the best Soldier I've ever had, you could ask for nothing more in a Soldier than all that Shane Duffy was. He was a Natural Born Leader, tough, charismatic, fit, fearless and fearsome. A man of pride and honor who led by example. A True American Hero and a lost brother.

Through it all we shall never forget all of the brave men and women who have given their lives for the freedom of others. They are all true heros and will always be with us.

Father we entrust our brother Shane to your mercy. You loved him greatly in this life: now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace forever. Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.
May God hold Shane in the palm of His hand. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My deepest sympathies.

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I would also like to tell you about a website, http://groups.msn.com/SSPSoldierPor
traits/homepage,
where some wonderful people will make wood portraits of your fallen Hero for free for the immediate family. I became aware of this site when I wanted to do something special for Le Ron’s mother.

Shane was so much fun to be around. He was proud of his family and friends and he was dedicated to his family and country. He put this country and everyone else's needs before his own and even planned to continue to protect others in need by becoming a firefighter. I am SO thankful to have had the opportunity to know Shane. He has a beautiful family, wife, and daughter that love and miss him tremendously. I cherish the memories that I have and I will miss him greatly. Shane, you will NEVER be forgotten.
