Sofia DiCenso Obituary
84, of Johnston RI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 5, 2019. She was the beloved wife of the late Antonio G. DiCenso for 56 years. Born in Sulmona, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Angelo and Fausta DiCenso. With unimaginable courage, she came to the United States alone in 1958. Her only son and husband followed the next year. She worked for many years in the jewelry industry in Providence, RI. Sofia loved to cook delicious Italian meals for her family and friends. Saying you liked her food gave her great pleasure. Sofia adored her grandchildren, she was a wonderful loving mother, loving wife and a great Nonna.
Sofia is survived by her loving son Dr. Angelo DiCenso and his wife JoAnn of East Greenwich. She was the cherished grandmother of Santino, Massimo and Biagio. She was the sister of the late Romeo and Luisa DiCenso. Sofia was a wonderful aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, January 11th, at 9:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Cranston. Entombment will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Thursday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Visit NardolilloFH.com for online condolences.
