Edward Thompson Obituary

DALLAS — Edward A. Thompson, 86, of Dallas, passed away Friday, March 12, 2021, at his home.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Helen Hebda Thompson.

He had an associate's degree from Wilkes College and worked in sales with Campbell's Soup Company and later with Delbert Craig as well as part-time work with Prestige Pools.

He was President of the Back Mountain Jr. Football League and very active in Back Mountain Baseball and Scouts. He continued to support all his children's activities including football, baseball, band and scholastics. Years later, it was very important to him to also support all of his grandchildren's numerous activities.

He most recently was very involved in Masonic Village Social Club Committee, which set up activities like baseball trips, Philharmonic concerts and plays. He especially enjoyed his weekly poker games at the club and his Dallas Cowboys.

Ed was preceded in death by his wife, the former Theresa Rowny, in 2005.

Surviving are his children, Dr. Debra Miller and husband Dr. Michael Miller, of Shavertown; Karen Muldoon and husband Shawn, of Dallas; Dr. Kenneth Thompson and wife Diana, of North Carolina, and Dr. Kimberly Thompson and Peter Meyers, of Illinois. His grandchildren are Dr. Stephanie Miller, Michael, Erica, David and Megan Miller; Kevin and Erin Muldoon, Paige and Tyler Thompson and great-granddaughter, Emily Miller.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 19, at 10:30 a.m. from Gate of Heaven Church, 40 Machell Ave., Dallas. The Rev. Daniel Toomey will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Friends may call Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. at Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown.
