KINGSTON — Gertrude Seeherman, 92, of Kingston, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at home, surrounded by her family.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Kachanski Lasman and attended GAR High School. Gertrude worked for many years at the Seeherman Family grocery store, as well as Stark's Children's Clothing and Design Galleries.
She was a member of Congregation Ohav Zedek, the Jewish Community Center and other civic and religious organizations. She was an avid bowler as a member of the JCC Women's Bowling League.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Jerome Seeherman, on April 10, 2011. She was also preceded by siblings, Sanford Lasman, Hannah Fischman, Catherine Rosen, Hilda Lubin and Celia Moore.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Janet Cohen (Stephen), Pittsburgh, and Amy Goldstein, Kingston; grandchildren, Andrea Cohen, Justin Cohen and Hali Goldstein; and many nieces and nephews.
The family thanks Hospice of the Sacred Heart and Tina Gomareli, along with Anne and Alina, for their compassion and care.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel Inc., 348 S. River St., Wilkes-Barre. Interment will follow in Ohav Zedek Cemetery, Hanover Township. Shiva will be observed from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at 112 First Ave., Kingston.
Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Drive, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702; or a charity of the donor's choice.
