PLYMOUTH — Robert M. Williams, 94, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2018.
He was the son of the late David and Lora (Batz) Williams. Bob graduated from Coughlin High School, Class of 1942, where he excelled in basketball. He also won numerous medals and awards as a member of the YMCA swim club. Bob was part of the Greatest Generation, serving during World War II in the U.S. Army in the Philippines, Okinawa and Japan. He was honorably discharged as a master sergeant.
He spent the majority of his working career in the commercial aviation industry employed for several regional and national carriers. He retired from Eastern Airlines in 1986.
During his retirement, Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and playing golf with his friends. He was a member of All Saints Parish, Plymouth, and a former member and Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus.
Bob was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary, to whom he was married for 65 years; and sister Catherine Russell.
Bob is survived by daughter Maura (Michael) Shea; sons Robert (Sandy) Williams and Mark (Jill) Williams; grandchildren Bridget, Eileen, Lauren, Matthew, Lindsey, Nina and Mark; great-grandchildren Genevieve, Michael, Camilla, Nolan, Owen and Liam.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 11 a.m. in All Saints Parish, 66 Willow St., Plymouth. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mercy Center Nursing Unit, 301 Lake St., Dallas.
The family would like to thank Dr. John Carey and the staff at Mercy Center for the kindness and compassion shown to Bob during his stay.
