EDWARDSVILLE — Sarah "Sally" Mae Konefal, 88, of Edwardsville, passed unexpectedly Sept. 27, 2021, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. Sally was adored and cherished by many; she may be gone but will never be forgotten.
Sally, born Nov. 19, 1932, was the daughter of the late David J. and May E. Price, of Edwardsville. She graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1950 and was married to Edward M. Konefal on Oct. 20, 1956.
Preceded in death by husband Edward Konefal, son Michael Konefal, grandson Zachary Malek, and siblings Leah Pottorf, Robert, William, Thomas and Norman Price.
Sally will live on in the memories of her four daughters; Laura Warman and her husband David; Mary Kay Bukeavich and her husband Brian; Deborah Rodgers and her husband Peter; and Sarah Malek and her husband Michael; daughter-in-law Linda Somoga; six grandchildren, Jennifer Tucker and husband Doug, Jason Bukeavich and wife Summer, Rebecca Gordon and husband Jeremy; Joshua, Jacob and Nathan Malek and Billy Somoga; a great-granddaughter, Adeline Mae Bukeavich; and numerous nieces and nephews.
As the proprietor of Konefal's Restaurant for over 60 years, Sally had a heart of gold, loved unconditionally and was always willing to help others. On Sept. 27, we lost our rock, the essence that bound us together to make restaurant friends and customers more like family.
She devoted her life to making memories and laughing endlessly with loved ones. Sally enjoyed filling her free time with her grandchildren and relaxing on family vacations. As a part of the West Side Ladies bowling league for many years, she had a competitive spirit: cards, bingo or dominos, the game didn't matter as long as she was winning!
A long-time member of First Welsh Presbyterian Church of Edwardsville, Sally supported many charities throughout the years.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday in the First Welsh Presbyterian Church, 398 Main St., Edwardsville. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Kopicki Funeral Home, 263 Zerby Ave., Kingston.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Sally to the American Diabetes Association or Hershey Children's Miracle Network.

We are so sorry for your loss. Your mom was a great friend to my mom ( Betty Coslett) and "Baa" (Bea Williams.) I hope there is a big Bingo game in heaven and they are having a blast.
