Anna Eckenrode

Anna Eckenrode Anna "Josephine" Eckenrode, 93, a resident of Shippensburg Health Care Center and formerly of Amberson, PA, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Shippensburg Health Care Center. Born on April 20, 1921, in Spring Run, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Anna Creigh Gury. Josephine spent her working years as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 37 years. She was a very active member of Amberson United Methodist Church. She loved baking, bird watching, and the many dogs she spoiled over the years. Josephine is survived by a daughter, Anna Mae West of Amberson, PA; two sons, Joseph J. "Jake" Eckenrode and wife Sharon of Bellefonte, PA, and D. Linn Eckenrode and wife Rhonda of Amberson, PA; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one step great-grandchild. Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, J. Glenn Eckenrode on March 26, 1998; a brother, Jay Gury; and a sister, Frances Bock. A memorial service to honor Josephine's life will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Amberson United Methodist Church, 18889 Amberson Road, Amberson, PA. Pastor Phil Foster and her grandson, Nathan West, will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Amberson United Methodist Church at the aforementioned address.
