Cyrus Karper Obituary

Cyrus Allan Karper, 63, of 10 South Hillside Drive, Biglerville, PA, went to be with his Lord at 5:42 AM Wednesday, March 17, 2010 from his home. Born August 13, 1946, he was the eldest son of Mary Bikle Karper and the late Jay E. Karper. A 1964 graduate of the Chambersburg High School, he earned an Associates Degree from Hagerstown Junior College in 1967 and his Bachelor's in Education from Towson State College in 1969. He went on to receive a Master's Degree in Food Science from the University of Maine in 1972. He was currently employed as Risk Manager at Knouse Foods where he has worked for 37 years. He was a member of New Baltimore Church of God in South Mountain and the Keystone Studebaker Association.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife, Linda J. Lewis Karper, whom he married January 29, 1999; three daughters, Blanche Brais and husband John of Clemmons, NC, Amanda J. Doss and husband Will of Winston-Salem, NC, and Jennifer Smith and husband Harley of Waynesboro, PA; two step-children, Jessica Black of Gettysburg and Dustin Black of Biglerville; and eight grandchildren, Susannah Ellen Doss, Jonah Allan Brais, Evelyn Grace Doss, Harley Hudson Smith, Ava Margaret Brais, Lillian Rose Doss, Carley Suzanne Smith, and Haven Alexandria Smith. He is also survived by three brothers, Cedric Karper and wife Robyn of Raleigh, NC, Scott Karper and wife Diane of Honduras, and Calvin Karper and wife Marilyn of Oklahoma City, OK. Aside from his father, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Cyrus King Smith.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday, March 20, 2010 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Roy Daywalt and Rev. Lee Daywalt will officiate. Interment will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.
