H. Richard Byers H. Richard Byers, age 81 of Waynesboro, PA passed away unexpectedly on early Sunday morning December 28, 2014 at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chambersburg, PA. Born April 21, 1933 in Letterkenny Township, Franklin County, PA, he was the son of the late Harvey Richard and Margaret (Cormany) Byers. He married Betty L. (Harshman) Byers on June 26, 1954. He attended Good Intent Elementary and Lurgan Elementary Schools and also Chambersburg High School. Rich was a lifelong farmer concentrating on raising and dealing in the livestock industry for 58 years. He was a member of the Salem United Brethren Church of Chambersburg. Rich enjoyed socializing with family, friends and all individuals with whom he came in contact. He was very much involved in local history, especially the Letterkenny Depot area. Rich is the last of his immediate family. He is survived by his wife Betty of 60 years and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters Miriam Pugh and Eleanor Burkholder and two brothers Melvin Byers ad Donald Byers. A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 3, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Salem United Brethren Church 4349 Letterkenny Road Chambersburg with Pastors Art Page, Jason Bakker and Ronald Cook officiating. Interment will follow the service on Saturday at Norland Cemetery in Chambersburg. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Salem United Brethren Church Fellowship Hall.
