June Pine
Mercersburg - June D. Pine, 73, Mercersburg, PA, died June 24, 2021 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born May 23, 1948 in Chambersburg, PA she was a daughter of Hilda G. (Erb) Hill, Mercersburg, and the late Cranston R. Hill.
June was a 1966 graduate of James Buchanan High School, Mercersburg. Following graduation, she worked as a credited records technician at the Chambersburg Hospital. From 1984 until 2013 she was an administrative assistant for Peters Township Municipality.
She was a former PTA President at Mt. View Elementary in the 1980's. June taught Sunday school at Charlestown Methodist and St. Thomas Methodist Churches. She was a lay speaker for the United Methodist Church Conference.
June loved having picnics and being with family. She attended all the grand kids school events. June loved planting flowers and was a loyal supporter of her husband in whatever he did.

In addition to her mother, June is survived by her husband, Merle E. Pine, Sr., whom she married March 10, 1978. A daughter, Lindsay (Craig) Johnson, Upper Strasburg, PA, a step son, Merle E. (Beverly) Pine, Jr., and a step daughter, Suzanne (Brad) Dukehart both of Mercersburg, ten grandchildren, Kirsten, Raelyn, and Denae Johnson, Jared, Derek, and Wyatt Pine, Lauren, Breanna, Ashley, and Brady Dukehart. A sister, Diana (Ed) Meyers, St. Thomas, PA a brother, Dennis Hill and his significant other, Bonnie Baughman of Harrisonville, PA, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. June was preceded in death by her in-laws, Wayne and Thelma Pine and brother-in-law, Richard Pine.
Funeral services 11:00 AM June 29, 2021 in The Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church, 11 North Fayette Street, Mercersburg, with Reverend Michael Baughman officiating. Burial in Fairview Cemetery Mercersburg.
Viewing 6 to 8 PM Monday in Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, and one hour prior to the service Tuesday in the church.
