Marian E. Graven

Marian E. Graven of Bradenton, FL and Fayetteville, PA passed into the hands of the Lord on May 20, 2010 at Harrisburg Hospital. She was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1931 to Lilian and Charles Garone and was one of four children. Her death ends 57 years of a happy and loving marriage to Richard Graven. She is survived by her five wonderful children, Eric, Anita, Lisa, Gail and Paul and their spouses. Marian is also survived by her brother, Neal plus nine wonderful grandchildren, Steven, Richard, Julie, John, Lindsay, Sarah, Joseph, Mary and Lena. She was an elementary school teacher for many years and receiving her teaching degree from Queens College, NY. Her avocation was cooking and her goal was to make recipes better. Marian's work is published in her cookbook, "Don't Cook Your Goose". Her other avocation was bridge and she developed a novel mathematical strategy to enhance her play. Also, Marian was a volunteer docent at the governor's mansion in NJ and the South Florida Museum. She was a wonderful mother and taught the values of love, faith, learning and responsibility. As her life was coming to an end, she told us Jesus was calling and she was accepting his invitation. Goodbye Marian, job well done. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Thursday May 27, 2010 at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road Chambersburg, PA. Funeral services will be conducted at 10AM Friday May 28, 2010 at Solomon's Evangelical Lutheran Church 4856 Wayne Road, Chambersburg, PA. Private interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Marian's name to the South Florida Museum, Bradenton, FL 34205 where Snooty, the manatee, was one her favorites.
