Alberta Hilliard Obituary

Alberta Mae Hilliard, 90, of Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
She was born July 18, 1934, in Perry Township, a daughter of the late Mabel Pearl (Bush) and Marion Grant Lingenfelter.
On March 7, 1953, she married the love of her life, Charles William Hilliard, who preceded her in death on May 20, 1980.
She was a 1952 graduate of the Punxsutawney High School. Alberta was a lifelong member of the Ringgold United Methodist Church and the Ringgold Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
Alberta enjoyed cooking, baking, puzzles, crocheting and playing cards with her friends at Graystone. She worked as a cook for Jefferson Manor, Country Hearth, and lastly for Shaffer's Pizza until she was 80 years old. She will always be remembered as a hardworking, fun-loving, kind and gentle soul. One of her wonderful nurses at Punxsutawney Hospital described her best as "Innocently Mischievous!"
She is survived by three daughters, Debra Hoffman and husband Larry of Eddyville, Shelly Bishop of Punxsutawney, and Melody London and husband David of Punxsutawney; and six grandchildren, Benjamin Bishop and wife Julia, Reggie Bishop and wife Carrie, Lacee Neely and husband Bill, Courtney Eitner and husband Mike, Michael London and wife Missy, and William Hoffman and wife Kara.
She was Ginny to 14 great-grandchildren, whom she loved and held very dear to her heart. She loved each and every one of her precious nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Grant, Glaze and Fred Lingenfelter; three sisters-in-law, Emma Jean, Kathryn and Marguerite Lingenfelter; and a son-in-law, Kenneth Bishop.
Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2025, at the Deeley Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the Ringgold United Methodist Church, with Pastor Ronald Cox officiating.
Interment will follow the funeral service at the Ringgold United Methodist Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in memory of Mrs. Hilliard, toward the Kitchen Renovation of the Ringgold United Methodist Church.

Deb, Shelly and Mel, to each of you my heart goes out to you. God gave you the best! She was true gold, no matter where she saw you and talked to her she ALWAYS made you feel blessed. She was no relation, but we always called her our Grandma Bert. She always meant the world to us. Girls, it will be hard but you were lucky to have her so long, and you have so many great memories and nothing can take that away. More than once she always remarked how good her girls and son in laws were to her. She loved you all! Noel and I will always cherish our times with her, especially New Years Eve at Shelly’s. There’s a new angel in heaven today, bet she’s in the kitchen. Love and prayers.
