Anthony Stello Obituary

Anthony "A" Stello, 93, of Cloe, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at his home.
He was born Jan. 27, 1931, in Corbettown, to parents Bruno and Catherine (Cosmano) Stello, who preceded him in death.
"A" married the love of his life, Nancy (Hodgson) Stello, on July 26, 1952. They enjoyed 54 loving years together. She preceded him in death on Nov. 30, 2006.
"A" graduated from Punxsutawney Area High School in 1948. He then received his degree from DuBois Business College. "A" worked as an auditor for the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue from 1960-1977. Following this, he worked for Cloe Mining and ACME Machine as an office manager for many years. In addition, he worked at Stello Accounting alongside his sons well into his 80s.
His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. He loved going to all the family parties, swimming all summer in the pool, and especially enjoyed celebrating Christmas. It was very important to him that he give each family member a handful of scratch-off tickets as their gift each year. Throughout his life, "A" was always interested in learning new information, so the addition of his Amazon Alexa device in his life was very important to him.
"A" was a lifelong member of SS. Cosmas and Damian Church, and was a faith-filled person throughout his life. He was kind to everyone he met and never had a bad word to say about anyone, except for expressing his upset and frustration with the Pirates and Steelers when they didn't play up to his expectations, as he was an avid sports fan.
"A" is survived by his five children, Patty LaBelle and husband Bill, Mike Stello, Tina Manners and husband Henry, Chris Stello and wife Lynne, and Scott "Buff" Stello and wife Traci. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jennifer Fairman and husband Gary, Jodi Campbell and husband Jim, Ron Stello, Michael Stello and wife Tasha, Tony Manners (Tasha), Troy Manners (Raelynne), Christopher Stello (Meredith), Elizabeth Stello (Jachob), Abbey Stello (Alex), Brooke Stello (Luke), and Bailee Stello (Cameron). He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Garrett Fairman, Mason Fairman, Tyler Campbell, Alyssa Campbell (Ben), Elijah Stello, Ella Burke, Trey Manners, Tenley Manners, and Oakley and Hudson Manners. He is also survived by the following brothers- and sisters-in-law: Dave Fye, Beverly Fye, Bernice Wright, Brenda Bofinger (David), Joe Fye (Paula), Rick Fye (Zana), Kitty Hodgson, Marcie Hodgson, Vinnie Villella, Lois Stello, Jennie Stello and Arbie Stello. In addition, he is survived by many nieces and nephews, with whom he was very close.
"A" was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy; his infant grandson, Dominic Stello; and his siblings, Carmel Scoglio (Frank), Margaret Schena (Chester), Sam Stello (Josephine), Josephine Abraham (Fred), Jean Siar (Richard), Viola Siar, Pete Stello (Betty), Lou Stello, Frank Stello, Dominic Stello (Ruth), Joseph Stello (Carol), Jim Stello (Rose), and an infant brother Pietro Stello. He was also preceded in death by the following brothers- and sisters-in-law: Jim Hodgson, Terry Hodgson, Martha Villella, Barb Fye, Jerry Wright and Louise Fye.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church, 616 W. Mahoning St., Punxsutawney, PA 15767, with Msgr. Joseph Riccardo as celebrant. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Punxsutawney. The McCabe Funeral Home Inc. of Punxsutawney has been entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SS. Cosmas & Damian Church or Saint Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
