Catherine Gaffney Obituary
She was born on Jan. 14, 1927 in Dayton, a daughter of the late Dominic and Rose (Tiganelli) Altimore.
Kay was Catholic by faith.
On Jan. 24, 1948, she married the late Thomas Isaac Gaffney Jr. He preceded her in death on April 29, 1983.
Through the years, Kay worked at G.C. Murphys, Hoffman Diamond Products, Goodwill and Community Action. She enjoyed working with and being around people.
She enjoyed spending time with her family. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her hobbies were sewing and doing crossword puzzles.
She is survived by a son, Thomas Isaac Gaffney III and wife Deborah of Punxsutawney; a daughter, Cindy Mitchell and husband Dave of Brookville; five grandchildren, Kristy Henry and husband Christopher, David Mitchell and wife Sissy, Thomas Isaac Gaffney IV and wife Charlie, Jennifer Hatzinikolas, Lyndsay Brooks and husband Dustin; and nine great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, John, Sam, Frank, Pete and Joe Altimore; and three sisters, Josephine Desanto, Christine Cipolla and Angela Morrell.
There will be no visitation. A private family service will be held at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
Interment will be at Circle Hill Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Gaffney's memory to Lindsey Fire Company, 1010 W. Mahoning St., Punxsutawney, PA 15767.

I'm very sorry to hear of Kay's passing. She was such a wonderful little lady, with lots of spunk. My condolences to the entire family, and lots of love and prayers through this time of grief.
