John and I 1st met in early 90's when we working at EDS. I impressed him immediately when he told me he played hoops in college and I asked "did you play with Stormin Norman and Big Train Billingsley"? Our friendship developed from there and we had deep connection given our love of hoops. In the days of leaving voice mails after our message we would sign off with the most obscure hoops player"...This is Hank Finkel so call me back..." John and I had chance to attend the Final Four in Dallas in 2014.
A true gentleman...always kept cool under difficult circumstances and always positive and happy. Only time I can remember we had an issue was when we were at a CTIA in New Orleans and our late night spilled into early morning. We disagreed whether we should go to bed or not ....we ended up at Friday's for a very early AM breakfast and back to our rooms for quick shower and change and back at work by 8 AM!
I've missed him much over last 4-5 years but will always remain a close friend and I retain the best memories.

My deepest condolences to the entire Hettish family. John was a great friend and fraternity brother while we attended Duquesne University and beyond. He was well liked by everyone he came in contact with and will be truly missed.

When my wife Shannon recently told me about John passing, I was heartbroken. Me and John spent years working together at GTE TSI, Boston Communications Group and Actsoft. We enjoyed each other's friendship for years. Unfortunately, Life happens, and we did not stay in contact the past several years. We used to look forward to March Madness as we would call each other and flip a coin to see who would select first, as we would literally pick a winner to every first-round match up. Of course, we put money on the winner of the game and the point spread for each game. Neither one of us probably made more than $20 for the whole tournament, but it was our thing! It kept us excited about watching the games, bragging about our picks or lamenting when your number one pick got upset. John collaborated with Shannon to throw me my surprise 30th Birthday Party. Just so many memories, and he will be missed. My prayers go out to Sarah, Brian and Bridgett. Have not seen you all since Boston, but you will always remain special in our hearts.
