John Niel Obituary

John F. Niel, 90, of Smicksburg, entered into rest, Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024, at the Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital.
He was born Sept. 20, 1933, to John Frank Niel and Letha (Cochran) Niel in Porter, Jefferson County.
John served with the United States Army and was stationed in Korea. John was a member of the Local 310 Carpenters Union and Life Member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
He is survived by a nephew, Gregory Stiteler and wife Roxanne, Smicksburg; a niece Linda Bingaman, Punxsutawney; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mildred "Mim" Stiteler, Natalie "Ann" Stiteler and Janet "Dick" Niel; and a niece. Karen McKain.
Friends will be received Saturday from 10 until the time of service at 11 a.m. at the Salem Lutheran Church, 26 Clarion St., Smicksburg, PA 16256.
