John Shaffer Obituary

John W. Shaffer, 77, of Rossiter, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2024, at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital.
He was born Sept. 16, 1947, to Loren Shaffer and Betty (Burkholtz) Shirley in Rossiter.
John was a member of the Rossiter Legion, Punxsutawney Moose Lodge and the Punxsutawney Eagles Club. John was owner and operator of the Brandon Hotel in Rossiter for over 50 years. He was very proud of the 50-year celebration. John enjoyed playing cards (Texas Hold'em) and going to different casinos, running his heavy equipment.
He is survived by three children, Johnthan R. Shaffer and wife Nikki, Punxsutawney, Michael Berringer and wife Beth, Rossiter, and Michelle Brink and husband Dan, Rossiter; grandchildren Darriene London, Navada Shaffer, Devynn Shaffer, Mesha Brink, Mikelee Brink, Bronson Brink, Kyler Berringer; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry Shaffer and wife Carol, Oil City; numerous nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Mary Tyger and husband Dan, Rossiter; and his former spouse Sandy Kotula, Punxsutawney.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Pat (Fisher) Shaffer, who preceded him in death in 2016.
Friends will be received on Thursday, March 6, 2024, from 1 until the time of the service at 4 p.m. at the McCabe Funeral Home, Inc., 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney, PA 15767. Interment will take place at Union Cemetery, Rossiter.

We may not have seen eye to eye all the time but I respected you more than any other man and loved you dearly. Thank you for all the wonderful memories and being a friend , confident and mentor.
