Michael Shaffer Obituary
He was born July 15, 1978, to James and Darlene (Blose) Shaffer in DuBois.
Michael was a graduate of the Punxsutawney Area High School Class of 1997 and attended One Life Church. Michael attended Pittsburgh Technical Institute before enlisting in the Navy in 2004. After the Navy, he held several different jobs but loved his work with Davy Tree as a Class B climber. Michael loved the outdoors, including hunting, fishing and biking. He was a very passionate and caring person who loved his family and all animals.
He is survived by his father, James E. Shaffer, Punxsutawney; two brothers and a sister, Rodney S. Shaffer and wife L'Gena, Sharpsburg, Georgia., Robin S. Shaffer, Punxsutawney, and Jason P. Shaffer, Punxsutawney; and nephew Trigg M. Shaffer, Punxsutawney.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene, in September of 2020.
Friends will be received on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the McCabe Funeral Home Inc., 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney, PA 15767, with Rev. Glenn McQuown officiating. A graveside service will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Olive Cemetery, Oliveburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Jude (www.stjude.org/donate), Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute (www.ppimhs.org) or the charity of the donor's choice. To share a condolence or memory, please visit www.mccabewaldronfh.com.
