Nancy Edith Snyder

1943 - 2025

Nancy Edith Snyder of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully on Oct. 31, 2025, at the age of 82.
Born on Feb. 8, 1943, in Dora, Nancy was the daughter of the late John and Grace Hollenbaugh, and was preceded in death by her younger sister, Patricia (Hollenbaugh) McLaughlin, with whom she remained close throughout their lives. She graduated from Punxsutawney High School in 1961.
In 1962, Nancy married Richard Snyder of Porter at the Dora EUB Church, and they shared many adventures together during his service in the United States Air Force. They lived in England for over 10 years, as well as in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maine, Florida, Montana and ultimately Texas, where they retired. After 56 years of marriage, Richard passed away in 2018.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Nancy was known for her deep love of children - especially her own kids and grandkids. An avid gardener, she found joy in spending time outdoors and digging in the dirt, growing many English roses as a nod to her time in England. As a crafty lady, she excelled at arts and crafts - there wasn't anything she couldn't create or build.
Nancy's love for animals was another constant throughout her life. She especially loved dogs, and saved multiple strays that found their way to her doorstep. Somehow, they seemed to know that once they got there, they were going to be okay.
She loved to travel and had a special passion for driving. She had a real need for speed, and no one could take a curve like Nancy.
Nancy is survived by her three children, Tammy Snyder, Ricky Snyder and Marsha (James) Schroeder, and three grandchildren: Krystin Lehtola, Taylor Snyder and Saffron Schroeder.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Dora EUB Church, 2547 Dora Timblin Road, Punxsutawney. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by the service at 11 and a luncheon immediately afterward.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Nancy may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
