Olive Shaffer Obituary

Olive E. (Shick) Shaffer, 88, of Ringgold, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2022, at home surrounded by her loved ones.
Olive was born to the late Esther (Fox) and T. Clyde Shick in Redbank Township, Armstrong County, on Aug. 31, 1933.
Olive was married to the late Samuel C. Shaffer for 64 years. He preceded her in death on March 28, 2019.
She was a member of the 1951 graduating class of Dayton Joint High School. Olive was a faithful member of the Countryside Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and watched the little children in the nursery.
Olive and her husband, Samuel, were caretakers of the Dry Ridge Cemetery for many years. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing and baking. Olive was a very talented piano player. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt.
She is survived by four children, daughter Kathy E. Shaffer and husband David of Ringgold, daughter Arlene E. Gruver and husband Kalvin of New Salem, son Ronald C. Shaffer and wife Jayne of Rossiter and son Samuel M. Shaffer of Ringgold and girlfriend Mary Ann Ramires; seven grandchildren, Melissa Brothers, Christopher Shaffer, Jenifer Wright, Kelly Nanni, Mark Shaffer, Seairra Rudolph and Kelsey Gruver; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard C. Shick and wife Roberta and Donald Shick and wife Edith; two sisters, Larue Davis and husband Roger and Elma Roman; her wonderful friend and neighbor, Betty Neese; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rebecca Sue Shaffer; granddaughter Tricia Beth Gruver; brothers T. Wayne Shick and Clarence Shick; sister Karen M. Troup, brother-in-law Tony Roman; and sister-in-law Margaret Shick.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2022, at the Countryside Baptist Church, 11250 Route 536, Punxsutawney, PA 15767. An additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at the church.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at the Countryside Baptist Church, with Pastor Donald Pendley officiating.
Interment will follow at Dry Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made, in memory of Mrs. Shaffer, to the Countryside Baptist Church, PO Box 422, Punxsutawney, PA 15767.

From the very first time I met her I realized what a special God directed woman she must be. We only crossed paths a small number of times but you just don't forget a woman such as she was. Rest in peace.
