Shirley Genetin Obituary

Shirley Genetin, of Herminie #2, passed peacefully in Latrobe hospital Oct. 7, 2025, after a long battle with renal disease.
She was born on March 10, 1938, in Edna, daughter of the late Frank Gumola and Florence Adams.
Shirley was a strong, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Shirley enjoyed spending time at her cabin in Cook Forest, crocheting, baking and spending time with family.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 50 years Ernest Genetin Sr. Shirley is survived by her children, Ernest Jr., Richard Butler, Debbie Pavlik, Martin Thomas, Robert Corso, John Skiba, Viola "Tina" Jeffcoat and Duane Harouse. Shirley is also survived by 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
As per Shirley's wishes, there will be no public visitation.
The family would like to thank DCI Hempfield, Cathy and all of the wonderful staff who took such special care of Shirley during her treatments.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the National Kidney Foundation.
The family will be holding a private celebration of life for Shirley on Friday, Oct. 10, at 5 p.m.
Arrangements are by R.J. Slater IV Funeral Home, New Kensington, PA 15068.
