Thomas L. "Tim" Shaffer Sr.

1942 - 2022

Thomas L. "Tim" Shaffer, Sr., age 79, of Sykesville, died Friday, Jan. 21, at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital.
Born on July 22, 1942, in DuBois, he was the son of the late Eugene and Theresa (Dixon) Shaffer.
Tim worked for many years at McDowell Manufacturing in DuBois. After McDowell closed, he went to the police academy at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and went on to serve the Reynoldsville Borough as a police officer.
He was an avid hunter and trapper. He enjoyed playing Bingo, and in his earlier years, he raced at the Hummingbird Speedway.
Tim is survived by three children, Sheri Fitzpatrick and husband Tom of DuBois, Thomas Shaffer Jr. and wife Jean of Punxsutawney, and Nina Shaffer and wife Heather of Mechanicsville, Virginia; four grandchildren, John Michael Pearce and wife Ashley, Kody Shaffer and wife Alisha and Neil and Kyle Fitzpatrick; three great-grandchildren, Lane Shaffer and Greyson and Mattie Pearce; two sisters, Dorothy Thompson of Buffalo, New York, and Linda Clark of Tyrone; and his companion of 22 years, Louise Howard.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Gerald, Robert and Loraine Shaffer, and three sisters, Betty Himes, Gail Shaffer and Donna McLeod.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 29, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Terry Felt officiating.
Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery.
Memorials may be placed with the charity of the donor's choice.
