James Paul Beecher

79, of Rolling Hills Estates, passed away January 5, 2016, in Torrance, California. Preceded in death by parents William and Pauline Beecher and daughter Susan Beecher. Jim is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Carol Beecher; his brother, William Beecher; his sons James, Michael, and Matthew; his daughters-in-law Tracy Beecher and Julie Ryan-Beecher; his grandchildren Annabelle, Haley, Ryan, Melanie, Caroline, and Holden Beecher. Jim was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. He graduated from Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree in 1959 as an Evans Scholar and member of Phi Kappa Sigma. Upon graduation from college, Jim moved to Southern California where he met his future wife Carol FitzGerald. They married in 1960 and started their family in 1961. In 1965, Jim earned a Master of Science at Long Beach State. Jim was a businessman who had a long and distinguished career in the mechanical construction industry. Jim was employed by IBM, Honeywell, and Weatherite before starting his own company, J.P. Beecher Associates. He joined Rolling Hills Country Club in 1975. James enjoyed travelling, reading, skiing, golf, football, and playing cards with his friends and family. He was particularly proud of his grandchildren and encouraged all to excel scholastically as it was academics that he felt led to his success. He was forever a proud Buckeye who never tired of watching Ohio State lose to USC in the Rose Bowl. A private burial service will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park.
