Keith Davidson Obituary

October 1, 1936 - June 28, 2022 We were blessed with a Dad that shared with us the wisdom of Solomon, patience of Job, and love of Christ. He was that kind of man. On June 28th, our Dad, Dr. Keith Davidson, passed away peacefully at 85 holding the hand of his beloved wife, Joan, to be reunited with our sister, Cynthia MacPhee, and his Heavenly Father. A loving and devoted husband for 61 years, Dad to three "favorite" daughters, Granpops to six grandsons and two granddaughters, our Dad was also the master chef and chief barista, making Mickey Mouse waffles for the grandkids, cappuccinos for his daughters, delicious dinners for his wife, and Thanksgiving turkey for his entire family. He loved to jitterbug and made sure that we all enjoyed one last dance with him at his grandson's wedding in January. Anyone who knew him well knew that he had memorized the Webster's Dictionary and could complete the New York Times Sunday crossword puzzle with a pen and posted top Wordle scores until the day before he died. He also had a zest for adventure that led him to travel to numerous countries on 6 continents with his wife often stopping to enjoy a round of golf. A self-described "futurist", Dad was insatiably curious and open-minded. He was the founder and, for sixteen years, the President of Xplor International, a worldwide association representing the document systems industry. His strategic vision and evangelistic fervor were instrumental in building a worldwide community with thousands of members in more than 40 countries. He was also the founder and President of the Electronic Document Systems Foundation. Before founding Xplor, Dad was a marketing executive at Xerox, Boise Cascade, and Mattel. While working full-time, Dad completed his doctorate in executive management in 1990 at the Claremont Graduate School, where he studied under Dr. Peter Drucker. Before launching his career, he received his MBA from University of Denver and his BS from University of Dayton. He will be deeply missed by both of us, his daughters, Dianne Calvi and Suzanne Eisenbrand, his wife, Joan Davidson, his grandkids, Conner and Heather MacPhee, Matthew and Michelle Calvi, Clayton, Ian, Cole and Ryder Eisenbrand, his brother, George Davidson, his kids' and grandkids' husbands, wife, and fianc‚s, along with numerous nieces and nephews; all whom loved him dearly and will never forget his generosity, wit, intelligence, grace and undying love and caring for them. A devoted member of Rolling Hills United Methodist Church and his men's Wednesday morning Bible study, he was, above all, a man of faith. That was Dad's Blessed Assurance, and we know now that our Dad is singing for the Lord with our sister, Cynthia, "This is my story, this is my song, blessed assurance, Jesus is mine." A celebration of life will be held at the Rolling Hills United Methodist Church on his birthday, October 1st. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rolling Hills United Methodist Church, Village Enterprise, or the Cabi Foundation.

A better man you will rarely find. Proud to call him my friend for over 50 years. Worked with Keith at Xerox, attended many of his Xplor conferences and enjoyed many a Cobb Salad at the Palos Verdes Country Club with him. He mentored so many of us over the years without knowingly doing so. Thank you, Keith, for a life well lived. Sending love and prayers to Joan and family.

Though it has been decades since we worked together, the memory of the privilege it was to work with Keith is crystal clear. In a time and place where virtues such as his were not universal, Keith, ever the gentleman, set a standard of skill, capability, reliability, and friendliness, for all to see. Our condolences to the family.
