My annual Christmas card/letter to Boots was just returned so I am just now learning of her passing this summer. Sad, though she did live a good and long life. In her (second?) career, Boots was the Administrative Manager at Planning Research Corporation, where I eventually worked for 17 years. As such, she was my go-to boss and filled that role admirably. Boots was a lot of fun on the job--besides being a great mentor who always knew the right answer to a workplace dilemma. As she got older, I never expected her to acknowledge my annual outreach, but I could just see her reading with interest the travel escapades of me and my daughter Andrea, whom she christened "Tessie Tutone" when Andrea was born. The end of an era... God Speed, Boots!

Many good family memories.
She was my first cousin, and loved my mother
Aunt Dolores. Our great grandfather Albert Benjamin Smith came to San Diego in 1846 from Long Island New York and was
a local war hero.

We knew Mr. & Mrs. Beyer for many years as regular customers at our restaurant. Absolutely loved them...always enjoyed sitting and talking with them on their weekly visits and listening to Boots recounting her ice skating days. After Mr. Beyer passed away, she didn't come in very often...maybe twenty years ago, she gave me an animated skating rink Christmas decoration. I had moved a few times since then but of all things, I found it about two weeks ago... with a greeting from Boots written on the box. Found it right around the time Boots passed away. It immediately made me think of her and then to see this obituary was bittersweet. Such a classy and gracious lady will be missed.

My thoughts are with the family during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there is hope for our loved ones lost in death can be reassuring.
