Earl Marsh Obituary

Earl Robert Marsh

On July 24, 2021 at 2:49PM, Earl peacefully passed away of natural causes in his home where he was comforted by his family. Earl was 6 months shy of his 100th birthday. He was preceded in death by Mary Marsh, his wife of 18 years.

Earl was born on January 7, 1922 in Napavine, Washington.

He worked for Boeing Aircraft in 1941 and was drafted in 1943 into the US Army.

He served the US Army Air Corps and transferred in the infantry where he saw action in the Pacific theater in WWII. His first assignment was to secure one of the islands in the Philippines. While he was in the Philippines, his division was sent directly to Hiroshima soon after the surrender of Japan. He also worked as a clerk for the United States Postal Service until he retired in 1979.

People always said, "Be good, Earl" wherever he went. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Grandpa Earl was the only grandfather I knew on my mother's side (he was married for many years to Violet Marsh, who is my grandmother). He was such a funny person, I loved his sense of humor. When I was a boy, he would always send me books on all sorts of topics. I loved getting packages from him and reading his highlighted passages. I hope my retirement years are as dynamic and full of world travels as his were. A life well-lived, I'll miss you Grandpa. I'm happy that my kids got to meet you too.
