Carmon Mest Obituary
August 12, 1938 - February 17, 2025
Carmon S. Mest, age 86, of Mokena/ New Lenox, originally of East Moline, IL passed away peacefully in the arms of his Lord and Savior on February 17, 2025,.
He received a BS in Education and an MBA from Northern Illinois University where he was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity, as well as Beta Gamma Sigma and Sigma Iota Epsilon Honorary Fraternities. He was also a member of National Rifle Association and the Sons of the American Legion. When he wasn't reading, doing crossword puzzles, or watching Jeopardy or GRIT, he could be found cheering on his favorite teams, the Illinois Fighting Illini men's basketball and St. Louis Cardinals.
Carmon is survived by his daughters Lisa (James) Herbert, Lesli (Dr. Steven) Beck, grandchildren Madeline Herbert, Greyson and Gianna Beck, brother Norman (JoAnn) and beloved cousins and good friends.
Proceeded in death by his wife, of 22 years, Kathleen (Safka) and parents Maurice and Bessie (Schreiner).
Services will be held on March 15, 2025 at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to The Parkinson's Foundation or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

Carmon was also varsity basketball and tennis. He held the school basketball free throw record. It was so good that after many years of being unbroken the school discontinued it.

Carmon was an accomplished trumpet player. He played at numerous High School events. He graduated from UTHS in 1956.
