IOWA CITY-Chandler Michael Furne, 21, of Iowa City, formerly of the Quad Cities, died unexpectedly on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at home. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at the funeral home. The family asks all who attend to wear their favorite Star Wars, Hawkeye or Bettendorf Bulldog attire. Memorials in care of the family.
Chandler was born in Rock Island, Illinois on May 22, 2000, a son of Richard Jr. and Denise Whitcomb Furne. Chandler graduated from Bettendorf High School and Indian Hills Community College, Ottumwa, Iowa.
Chandler just started a new job as a correctional officer for the Iowa Medical and Classification Center. He previously worked for the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Chandler was an avid Star Wars, Iowa Hawkeye and Bettendorf Bulldogs fan. He enjoyed fishing and gaming. Chandler was a huge animal lover. He loved spending time with his puppies, Mara Jade and Layla. Chandler will be remembered for his huge heart where he was always willing to do anything for anyone at any given time. He was extremely loyal to his family who loved him dearly.
Those left to cherish his memory include his parents, Denise (Hector) Vasquez, Milan and Rich (Kristy) Furne Jr., Galesburg; Fiance, Autumn Hill, Iowa City; brothers, Corey Hultgren and Noah Vasquez; grandma, Penny Furne; grandpa, Richard (Amy) Whitcomb; step-brother, Garrett Elgas; step-sister, Karsen Elgas; step-grandma, Glenda Docherty; uncle, Robbie Furne; aunt, Traci (Mike) Huskey; and nephews, Carter and Brady Huskey.
He was preceded in death by his grandpas, Richard Furne Sr. and Ray Docherty and grandma, Lois Whitcomb.

I'm sorry for your loss of your son Chandler he was a awesome funny friend that anyone could ask for and ik that I didn't go to the visitation or to the funeral today so that's y I'm writing this message now and ik that Chandler and I have e our ups and downs while we were in school together but its nothing that friends couldn't fix and the last time that I actually talked to him was over Facebook Messenger video call/chat I was good to everybody and always be joking around with all of his friends and we all always play computer games together with our other friends but when we all aren't on the computers playing games we talk and I can remember the time when we all would roast each other all the time just for fun and when someone asks Chandler about something he is always be happy to answer our questions

My thoughts and prayers to the Furne family. I did not know Chandler for too long, We met when he briefly worked at Collins Aerospace in Coralville. He was always a generous dude, offering to take shifts if I needed time off and seemed like a happy guy all together. Gone too soon.
