Charlene Swanson, 78, of Moline, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023, at the Iowa Masonic Home, Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday October 4, 2023, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hope Church, Bettendorf.
Charlene was born on December 18, 1944, in Sugarland, TX, the daughter of Joseph and Hilda (Theilemann) Brinkmeyer. She married James "Jim" Swanson on July 19, 1997, in Rosenburg, TX. She previously worked at the Cotton Gin and later as a switchboard operator. Charlene also worked as a secretary at the power company and later in Richmond, TX, at the state school. Charlene was also employed in administration at the Fort Bend County District Clerk's Office from 1987-1997. She was an active member of Hope Church, formerly known as First Assembly of God Church, where she worked for 15 years as the pastor's secretary, retiring in 2016.
Survivors include her husband, Jim; children: Shelly Reed, Moline, Brian (Debbie) Swanson, Coyne Center, Shawn Swanson, Rock Island; grandchildren, Amber, Brandon, Crystal, Carli, Josie; numerous great-grandchildren; brother, Mike (Carolyn) Brinkmeyer; niece, Leslie Brinkmeyer.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
