ORION-Daryl L. Nelson, 62, of Orion, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lutheran Cemetery, Orion. Memorials may be made to his family for a fund to be established.
Daryl was born on January 9, 1960, in Galesburg, IL, the son of Gerald and Shirley (Krueger) Nelson. He received his accounting degree from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois, which he attended on a basketball scholarship. Daryl married Kristin A. Frakes on November 4, 1989, in Rock Island. He was employed as the CFO of QC Auto Group. Daryl was a certified master gardener. He was active in the Orion community, was one of the founding members of the Orion Education Foundation, and was a longtime supporter of Orion Athletics. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Orion. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include wife, Kristin; children, A.J. (Eric) Schumacher, Elmhurst, IL, Jenna (Adam) Bohland, Orion, Tyler Nelson, Orion; grandchildren, Finn Schumacher, William Bohland, Wyatt Bohland; sisters, Karen (Jack) Pedersen, Corpus Christi, TX, Chris (Mike) Kearney, Henderson, NV, Barb Nelson, Bettendorf, Diane Nelson, Davenport; brother, Gary (Lisa) Nelson, Woodhull; mother-in-law, Margie Frakes, Moline; sister-in-law, Stacy (Jeff) DePorter, Orion, brothers-in-law, Steve (Lori) Frakes, Illinois City, Kurt (Kelly) Frakes, Milan; many nieces, nephews, and a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
